The world famous Pablo Picasso’s originally from Malaga lived in Barcelona from 1895 to 1904 with his family, The Ruiz-Picassos. Picasso's father was an art teacher and Pablo Picasso had already started his art studies in Malaga. Nonetheless it was Barcelona that influenced and inspired him the first early years as a struggling painter and it was in Barcelona that Picasso first exhibited his work.
 
The museum in Barcelona does not have any of his most famous paintings, but has many sketches and lesser known paintings, that are also a delight to see. The museum is housed in a fabulous gothic mansions in the old part of Barcelona.
